Last night was another wonderful evening spent painting at the Loveland Art Academy's (www.lovelandartacademy.com ) portrait/figure session. Our model was Tiffany whom I have been dying to paint! She always comes up with a great, interesting pose. Best use of $10 I can think of!

This is a young bull elk I encountered up in the forest. They are called "rag heads" because of their spindly antlers, but I thought that wouldn't quite work for a title. He was accompanied by other bachelor elk, waiting for the day when they are big enough to amass a harem of cows for themselves.

Though alert, this very trusting little guy was all stretched out and just enjoying not feeling like prey for awhile. I think he knew I would warn him of any danger. Of course he was right.
