Well I finally made it to my friend Lu Haskew's yard to paint her bird bath one final time before she moves next week. I'll have to find another bird bath to paint next year. Sounds like the beginning of a new adventure!

Unfinished Sketch

Unfinished Sketch "Above the Swimming Hole"
Roberts Ranch
8x10 oil on linen on gatorboard
$100 unframed plus shipping
This is an unfinished sketch from the Roberts Ranch. The bugs were ruthless!!! So I finally gave up. I know, I know. Weenie. But you had to be there. I had more paint on myself from trying to shoo the mosquitos away than I did on my canvas! The owner said she wouldn't worry about feeding them that night then. I loved her sense of humor!! I did get enough information though to do something larger perhaps later as I really liked the composition.

Bluff - Roberts Ranch

"Bluff -Roberts Ranch"
6x9 oil on linen on gatorboard
$95 plus shipping
A plein air effort from the Roberts Ranch, just across from the swimming hole. For you western movie buffs, this is the ranch they filmed the movie "Conagher" on with Sam Elliott and Katherine Ross.

Afternoon Sky - Roberts Ranch

"Afternoon Sky - Roberts Ranch"
10x8 oil on lineon gatorboard
$150 unframed plus shipping
I spent the weekend down around Pinon Canyon in the southeast portion of Colorado plein air painting with a great group of artists. It is in effort to bring attention to the government's proposed takeover of land from private owners for the Army's bombing range. The land and the families are incredible!!! A portion of any sales of mine from this outing will go to the coalition.

Black Capped Chickadee 4

"Black Capped Chickadee 4"
4x6 oil on linen on gatorboard
SOLD
The second of two postings today, trying to make up for this past week. I've had technical difficulties with the internet as well as recovering from my snakebite. My leg is still a little swollen and is better if I keep it elevated, which alleviates the pain. First thing I'm doing when it's completely back to normal is buying a pair of snake boots!

Magpie

I have had technical difficulties with the internet as well as recovering from my snakebite whick kept me from posting the past week, but I hope to be back to posting regularly now. Here is a magpie, one of two postings for today. I love the turquoise color of their black feathers in the sunlight.

Butterfly II

"Butterfly II"
4x4 oil on linen on gatorboard
SOLD

Okay, okay, I have a really good excuse for not posting the last few days. I was bitten by a rattlesnake Sunday morning while doing some brush mitigation with the fire department. Talk about being with the right group of people at the right time! I recieved immediate medical attention but still ended up spending the night in ICU. Another colorful story to remember in my old age. My only regret is that the snake lost his life because of it. Not exactly fair. My leg is still swollen and I need to keep it elevated, but I was able to pull off a small painting this afternoon. I loved this little butterfly with it's extremes of value and the wonderful cerulean blue raindrops on it's wings.
