Robin

"Robin"
10x8 oil on stretched canvas
$95 unframed plus shipping

One of many robins up in the forest. There's an area I love to go to where the Bobcat fire went through in 2000, where the branches are still bare and the birds are easily observed. I just sit and wait for them to land nearby. With a slight breeze and Longs' Peak visible in the distance it's very close to being in heaven.

"Thimbleberry Bloom"

"Thimbleberry Bloom"
4x6 oil on linen on gatorboard
$100 framed plus shipping

A second posting for today as I have the opening for the Legacy of Art Show at Invesco Field tonight and other show activities tomorrow to attend. This is a painting of a bloom on the Thimbleberry bush that grows wild here on the mountain. I have them on my property but this particular bloom was in the forest. Again, from my daily hike. Gotta love those hikes! While I'm out I can't help but chuckle as I think, "Wow, another day at the office!".

Sunshine

"Sunshine"
5x6 oil on canvas on gatorboard
SOLD

I'm not sure what these little yellow flowers are but, you guessed it, I found them up in the forest on my daily hike. There are simply so many different flowers up there. Painting them could keep me busy everyday all summer!

Columbine

"Columbine"
6x4 oil on linen on gatorboard
SOLD

Please check my other listtings as I have other wildflowers posted. Thanks!

The Columbine are in bloom now. I know where there's a large patch of them in the forest where I walk my dogs, so today on our hike I sought them out. I wasn't disappointed! There are probably a hundred of them in various stages of bloom in this one particular spot. I may no longer have my "Walden Pond", but I have a portion of the forest that I watch with the same curiosity and wonder. I watch the march of wildflowers as they bloom at different times during the summer's progression. One can tell the time of year easily without a calendar, if you are aware of the small nuances in nature. What a Godgiven gift!

The polar bear, a symbol of our northern hemisphere. Whether you believe they are vanishing from our world or not, you must marvel at their existence, their strength, their gentleness, and yes, their humor and humanness. They are one of my favorite subjects to paint.

Scissortail Flycatcher

"Scissortail Flycatcher" 16x12 oil on stretched linen

I love painting birds and this young Scissortail Flycatcher was no exception. I was drawn by the dark and light contrast of it's feathers and the wonderful shape of it's long tail. Combined with the morning light it was irresistable.

My Walden

My Walden 11x11 oil on linen on gatorboard
unframed
SOLD

$800

This is a scene in early morning at the pond where I used to live. I watched this small world, it's inhabitants' comings and goings, the arrival of the Great Blue Herons and Kingfishers in spring, the mallards, the redwing blackbirds, the coyotes and cottontails, even the progress of snails along the shoreline, all were fascinating for the many years I lived there. It always reminded me of Thoreau's "Walden Pond". I think I finally captured the wonder of it all.
